Small steps that make a journey
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu teaches us that ‘a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’
What will your learning journey look like this year?
Will you spend the first few months thinking of a grand plan, or waiting for someone to impose some training on you? Why not pick a topic or an area in which you think you could benefit from some additional knowledge and set yourself the goal of making the first step on a new learning journey.
The topic you chose is entirely up to you. There’s no need to feel compelled to follow what might appear to be an ‘obvious path’. In other words, don’t feel that unless you’re taking on a new language or higher level maths that the learning is somehow less useful. Is there an area where you could add some value to your work whilst also creating a task that you enjoy doing and which no-one is going to ask you to do, but for which you may get some benefit?
